Werner’s 400 mile cycle

Vincent’s step-father and Hannah’s American ‘Opa’, Werner Beck, joined the #themidlifecrisischallenge by deciding to cycle 400 miles by March 2015. Unlike Vincent, he has been actually cycling outside, around his local community in Florida. Werner has now completed his almighty cycling challenge and has raised the impressive total of $4110! Huge thanks to Werner for his efforts and to Uschi, Vincent’s mum, for her ongoing support.

As well as raising research funding, Werner and Uschi are also raising awareness and understanding of Rett Syndrome amongst a whole new group of people, many of whom have expressed genuine interest in further support. Many thanks to all who have sponsored Werner.

You can STILL sponsor Werner here 🙂

I might have mentioned it, but I am doing this challenge I call #TheMidlifeCrisisChallenge in which I am cycling 4040km in a year, try to lose 40lb (ca. 18kg) in weight in that year and get 40 people to do their own challenge within that year in the name of Reverse Rett.

I've done 745km so far, lost about 4kg, and have 13 people who have said they would do something.

So I wish to invite you to join this little, very exclusive team of legends. Come up with your own challenge, and add yourself to this legendary elite of people. Example of challenges could be, finding out how far you can get in 40 hours without spending any money, stay 40 hours in a bath of baked beans, walk up and down your office building of 40 floors 40 times, or anything else that might challenge you or amuse you and potentially could get you some good sponsorship or raise further awareness about Rett Syndrome.

Here is another example, my mother's husband Werner is cycling 400 American miles until March for Rett Syndrome Research Trust (US). He has already hit an amazing $3,000 in sponsorship, funds that will be used directly for the research of a potential cure. Another legend!

(He and my mum sponsored me with my red bike by the way. Without which I couldn't do my own challenge.)

Now continue to sponsor or PM me if you wish to join the team. www.justgiving.com/teams/40Fighting4Hannah (not everyone doing a challenge is connected to the team page yet).

It’s great to have the challenge going global – just goes to show, you don’t have to live anywhere near us,or even in the same time zone, or have the same currency, to be joining in 😉
